Privacy Policy

How we handle personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Last updated: 31 May 2026.

Notice: some legal entity details are marked [to be confirmed] until they are finalised. Before publishing publicly, have this policy reviewed by a South African attorney.

Summary (plain English)

VUKA is designed so you can use the entire platform without giving us any personal information. You don't need to sign up or create an account. Your quiz answers and marks stay on your device — we don't store them on our servers, and we don't share them with anyone.

1. Who is responsible

This platform is operated by Skills Map SA ("we", "us"). Registered details: [Legal entity name — to be confirmed], [registered address — to be confirmed].

Contact: sechaba@gametheory.co.za.

Information Officer (POPIA): [Information Officer name & email — to be confirmed].

2. What we collect — and don't

What we don't collect: we don't ask for your name, ID number, school, marks, quiz answers, location or device identifiers. The quiz and the marks qualifier run entirely in your browser. Anything you enter stays on your device (in memory or local storage on your own machine) and is not sent to us.

What we may collect, only if you give it to us: if you contact us by email, we receive whatever you write in that email (your email address and message).

Server logs: our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and abuse prevention. These are not used to identify or profile you.

3. Why we process this information (lawful basis)

We only process the limited information described above to (a) respond to messages you send us, and (b) keep the platform secure and working. The lawful basis is your consent (when you email us) and our legitimate interest in operating a safe website.

4. Sharing

We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing. We use a hosting provider to serve the site; that provider only processes the technical logs described above.

5. Security

Because we don't collect or store personal data from the tools themselves, there is very little to breach. Where we do hold information (e.g. emails you send us), we use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it.

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct it; ask us to delete it; object to processing; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us at sechaba@gametheory.co.za.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:
Website: inforegulator.org.za
Email: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za

7. Children

The platform is built so that no personal information is needed to use it, which includes use by learners under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child without the consent of a parent, guardian or competent person.

8. Cookies

We use only strictly-necessary cookies and local storage required for the site to function (for example, remembering your marks on your own device so the qualifier still works after a refresh). See our Cookie Notice.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
